Sunrise on the Mountain

Sunrise on the Mountain, like all my music, contains a piece of my soul. I wrote this song to represent the journey of my youth, the darkest parts of my life and the little bits of light that pulled me through moments I thought I would never see the sun rise again. I dedicate this piece to my friend Yolanda, one of the strongest people I have ever met, a light in my darkness, and the woman I hope to one day become. She has shown me the importance of protecting my peace and is living proof that even when the darkness seems endless, the sunrise is never far behind.

Sunrise on the Mountain contains flexible instrumentation. Although scored originally for a full orchestra, this piece may be played by a variety of different ensembles, including, but not limited to, a string orchestra or wind ensemble. Sunrise on the Mountain can be divided at its bare bones into five main parts, those of which are written among the strings. I hope this piece brings joy to both your ensemble and your audience. Thank you.
